    A rising country music star will play two dates in Jefferson County later this year. John King is scheduled to play in Whitehall August 16 and in Boulder August 17. According to Jefferson County Event Coordinator Bruce Binkowski, he recently received an email from King asking if there was any interest in a local booking.     The Whitehall Senior Center is hosting their annual fundraiser later this month. The Winter Fest Breakfast is scheduled for Sunday, February 18 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the center located at 3 North Division Street in downtown Whitehall. Center Director Mary Gustin said they put on a fundraiser each year and it is very important for the operations of the center.     According to Montana Department of Health and Human Services (DPHHS), Montana closed January with widespread influenza activity. The number of Montanans reported to be infected with “the flu” increased over the past several weeks, with a high of 723 new cases last week. Since the start of the flu season in October, over 3,290 people have tested positive for influenza, 423 have been hospitalized, and 21 adults 50 years and over have died.     It has been an amazing few weeks for the Whitehall Schools Music Department. Along with receiving a $250 "One Class At A Time" check from Montana Tech and KXLF TV Station (Butte) and hosting a middle school music festival, the department received more incredible news this week when they were notified of a GRAMMY Signature Schools Award.
