    Whitehall High School Principal Hannah Nieskens was recognized last week as the 2018 Montana High School Principal of the Year. In her third year at the school, Nieskens received the award last Thursday from the Montana Association of Secondary School Principals.   • MDOT officials discuss HWY 55

    Employees from the Montana Department of Transportation met with local officials and visited various organizations last Thursday to discuss the ongoing Whitehall South Roadway Improvements Project. MDOT Senior Engineering Project Coordinator Shane Watson said there is currently 150-day contract with the main contractor, and the completion of updating the bridge at Pipestone Creek could be done as soon as the middle of June.     Legion Avenue in Whitehall has a new look with the addition of several flags to celebrate Arbor Day. Mayor Mary Janacaro-Hensleigh said the town has been gearing up for Arbor Day scheduled for April 27, and she recently came across Tree City USA flags. Several of the flags celebrate Whitehall's 25 years as a Tree City USA. Janacaro-Hensleigh would like to have the flags out until Memorial Day when the United States Flag will replace them.     Lou Ann Masinelli of Whitehall, Montana (age 71) went home to be with her Heavenly Father on March 28, 2018. She lived every moment she was given with grace and gratitude. Even though she was diagnosed with Uterine Cancer in August of 2012, her Faith in God never faltered.     Whitehall High School Choir and Band Members will be competing April 13 and 14 at the District Music Festival in Anaconda.
