    Voters in the Cardwell School District approved Tuesday a general fund mill levy to support operational costs of the school. In unofficial results, the ballot measure passed by a vote of 73 to 39. In other results from the May 8 vote, voters in Whitehall School Districts 4 and 47 filled two three year terms. Scott Prevost (594 votes) and incumbent Gina Ossello (529) were both elected to the board of Trustees. Bob Magart was unsuccessful with his bid with 290 votes.   • Copper K Fiber Fest set to return this July

    After a successful inaugural event in 2017, the Copper K Fiber Festival will return to Whitehall later this summer. The second annual event hosted by Kami Noyes of Ranching Fiber Traditions and Betty Kujawa of Snowdrift Alpacas is scheduled to take place Saturday, July 21 and Sunday, July 22 at the Copper K Barn located at 786 Point of Rocks Road in Whitehall.     Whitehall High School band and choir students proved they are among the best in Montana at last week's State Music Festival in Helena. Whitehall had a total of three students finish with Superior ratings. Senior Alexys Mercer received a Superior rating for her tenor sax solo.     Four freshmen at Whitehall High School have been selected by the Whitehall Rotary Club to attend the July 2018 RYLA Camp.     The Whitehall High School tennis team will open the postseason when they host the 2018 Southeast Divisional B/C Tournament Thursday to Saturday in Belgrade. According to head coach Kerry Sacry, the matches will take place at Belgrade High School which is located at 600 Spooner Drive.     The Jefferson Valley Museum will open for the 2018 season on Saturday, May 26th at 12:00 PM. Volunteers will be available to answer questions and provide tours through the many sections of local history displays.
