Thanksgiving begins the Holy Days Celebrations. Among the many dinners, etc., the annual Thanksgiving dinner hosted by the staff and students (and some Moms) of the Cardwell School, triggers the festivities for many. Donations to the Food Bank were abundant, but the elaborate menu awaiting the senior citizens was tantalizing. There’s always mac and cheese, something that for some reason just doesn’t fit the turkey and the trimmings. The dessert table was laden with an amazing variety of mouth watering items. Among them was Tara Tebay’s famous angel food cake!! Many students served the drinks and desserts. What a nice time!

This Thursday, Dec. lst, at 4 p.m., the Lady Cougars will be hosting a basketball game. Coach Rossiter has had them practicing and honing the fundamental skills. On December 6th the girls will travel to Twin Bridges for a game at 4 p.m.

Upon the resignation of Mike Jellison, Jerry Fleege was hired for the North Boulder bus route. Jerry gave up the position that he has held for a long time with Harlow Bus Service and is enjoying just driving a route.

Perhaps many of you do not know the Latimers who have lived in Whitehall for several years. Jerry and Nita enjoyed their retirement in the Rocky Mountains, on the rivers or site seeing. Nita always had a camera handy and was very good with it. They purchased Gary Loghry’s log home and enjoyed the neighborhood and made friends. A little over a year ago, Jerry suffered a severe stroke and has required complete care. Nita took on that responsibility with her love and care. In October, Nita unexpectedly passed away. This has required Jerry to move into a facility that is giving him amazing care. On Saturday, December 10th, at 1pm at the Cardwell Church, a memorial service for Nita will be held. It is a time for friends to come together to encourage Jerry.

Julian and Sue Norville celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary this week, but Thanksgiving morning they joined Jason and Sally Norville Ehret, Kaylie and Tyler, along with Mike Norville for brunch at the Ehret’s home in Belgrade. Congratulations, Sue and Julian.

Picture this: Andrew Simon in polar bear pajamas! And on the Polar Express, no less. The Simon family - complete - met in Lewistown and boarded the train a little out of the city. Most of the passengers were dressed in their pj’s and were treated to hot chocolate and cookies. Being ‘naughty’ or ‘nice’ was part of the entertainment, but the laughter was contagious. Trace Simon recently celebrated his 4th birthday with several family times. He shares his birthday with his great grandmother, Dannette. Good thing she likes pizza - the last party was at the Pizza Ranch in Butte. Back to the Polar Express. The hour was late when the gang finally got to their motel in Billings - too late to swim, so it was early morning to use the pool and water park. What a marvelous way to enjoy the season.

Hostess, Florence Weyer, gave prizes to Patty Strozzi for High; Gladys Ballard, Second; Lucile Buchanan, Low and Erv Hedegaard, Pinochle. Guests were Erv and Aileen Shaw. Martha Hanson will hostess next time.

An Art Master Class taught by Albert Handell in Sedona, Arizona was on Michelle Tebay’s ‘bucket list’. When she called Pat Holman to tell her that she had been accepted in the class, Pat said, “When do we leave?” It was a grueling school for Michelle, but very productive and rewarding. Classes began at 9am; went to 5pm and then again from 7 to 9 pm. Five days were really full, Saturday, not so bad. Part of the sessions were outside in the beautiful contrasting countryside. While Michelle was hard at it, Pat was experiencing the Pink Jeep Tours. Various sites were visited on the tours. The Grand Canyon, many ruins in the area, Old Sedona, but she didn’t get to ride horses. The temperature stayed at 75 degrees. On the trip home, they stopped in Utah to visit a retired professor of Michelle’s from her college days at MSU. Prof. Michael Peed was a perfect tour guide, showing them Canyon Lands National Park, some old ruins, picture cliffs and many other beautiful areas. The odometer showed 2,111 miles had been driven during their amazing time in the Southwest.

A brief update on Michelle and Norm’s twin grandsons born last March VERY premature. Anson and Eli, born weighing 2 pounds a piece, are tipping the scales at 20 pounds now and are on the move. Eli still has to have oxygen, but is handling it well. Cody and Amanda (as well as Norm and Michelle) are thankful for the many concerns and prayers for these little fellows.

It’s time to turn on the Christmas music and get ready for the Birthday of The King! Even though we don’t know for sure what day Jesus was born, we do know that He was. As sure as that prophecy was fulfilled, as well as His crucifixion and resurrection, He is going to return and then as King of Kings. Revelation 19: 11 and 16; “Then I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness and judgment He makes war. And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.”
