Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana

Lady Trojans start season Saturday

After two week's of practice, Whitehall High School girl's basketball head coach Herman Gerving is pleased with the way his team has started the season.

"Things have been going fine. The girl's are really working hard and have a positive attitude about the season," Gerving said.

The Lady Trojans will open the season Saturday at Manhattan Christian.

Gerving said he would not only like to see a team that plays together, but also wants them to give 110 percent and represent themselves with Trojan pride.

Gerving said a strength of the team this season would be an overall team effort that should lead to an enjoyable season. Whitehall will return seven seniors on the 2016-17 team. The seniors on the team are Mesquite Melton, Bryn Welker, Kaya Welch, Rabeca Kopf, Rachel Smith, Ann Russell and Monica Sepulveda.

"Having seniors on a team is an asset, they know what is ahead of them and can help the younger girls adjust to what is expected and teach them," Gerving said.

Following the Saturday matchup against Manhattan Christian, The Lady Trojans will again be on the road December 9 and 10 at the Tip Off Tourney in Manhattan.
