Volunteers at the Museum are really glad to have John Joy back in the mix. Health issues kept him isolated for a few months, but along with the 7 others trying to get back into their routines, he just picked up where he had left off. The key word at a museum is DETAIL! When the barn was being developed into the Museum, Roy told us that the office wasn’t big enough -- he was so right. The files grow and work space is shared and it won’t be long before that map case will getting the attention that has been so needed. The Library is looking forward to hosting a series about World War I next year, (should they get the grant applied for), and the Museum will be partnering with them. Tom Anderson brought in a photo of his father, Ralph, during that war when he served in the Cavalry. The photo. along with Ralph’s uniform, will make a wonderful addition to the programs. We have a lot of learning to do from all of Roy’s research which he left the Museum. (Too bad we couldn’t have kept his brain.)

With one full week of practice the Cardwell Cougars are improving their skills and are getting ready for their first game which is scheduled next Tuesday, January 17th at Twin Bridges. Game time is 4 p.m.

Lucile Buchanan not only hosted the Whitehall Pinochle Club, but won Second place. Judy Simmons was First, Michael Clark was Low, and Renee Webster won Pinochle. She will also be hostess next time. Aileen Shaw was the only guest.

Big Sky Ski Resort was cold enough to send Carol Patrick and her sister, Verna Poore, home. That was nice, because Verna stopped to visit me! Catching up with her and her family was a real treat. For her 60th birthday - imagine that! she is actually 60 - she signed her family up to run a 13K race. They were all good sports, finishing, even though some of it was walking and there were blistered feet. That is real love! She had shirts made so they wouldn’t forget the “fun” experience.

Forty years ago, it was either get married in January or wait until calving season was over, so Linda Jones opted for January. January 8, 1977, Linda and Ken Glaus pledged their love and lives to one another. Their kids, Shaunda, Kyle and Kurt hosted an Open House for them at the Cardwell Church. Kelly Carey made special cakes, Pat Holman and Janice Carmody made the tables look festive. Many friends and relatives braved the roads to celebrate with them. They have called Cardwell their home for these 40 years.

For you Ken and Linda from Chuck Swindoll. “May God be praised for the genius of marriage and the thrill of celebrating it annually with the one I love.” From Growing Strong in the Seasons of Life. He adds, “Many waters cannot quench love; rivers cannot wash it away. If one were to give all the wealth of his house for love, it would be utterly scorned.” Song of Solomon 8:7
