Whitehall splits Tuesday with rival Jefferson

The Whitehall High School boy’s basketball held off a scrappy Jefferson High School team in rivalry action last night in Boulder.

Playing without senior leader Colton Noyes who missed the game due to sickness, the Trojans (5-1, 3-0 5B) overcame a late deficit for the 51-47 victory.

Trailing by one with under a minute left, senior Braden Larsen hit a layup to put the Trojans up 48-47. It was their first score since a 9-0 run that had given Boulder their first lead of the second half. After two misses by the Panthers, Andrew Simon drilled two free throws with six seconds left to seal the win.

In the first game of the evening, the Lady Panthers picked up a 47-35 victory over Whitehall. With the loss, the Lady Trojans fell to 4-3 on the season and 1-1 in Class 5B play.
