Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana

Five Trojans notch postseason accolades

The Whitehall High School boys and girls basketball teams were well represented on the all state and conference teams.

A total of five Trojans earned postseason accolades, including two making the all-state team. Senior Braden Larsen and Sophomore Max Feight were named to the all-state team as well as to the District 5B All Conference First Team. Senior Andrew Simon was also named first team all-conference.

For the Lady Trojans, freshman Isabel Evans and senior Kaya Welch were both named District 5B Second Team All-Conference.

Head coach Herman Gerving said Evans brought an inside game to which other teams had to adjust their defense, and that helped the Lady Trojan shooters.

"She was also a very good rebounder. Throughout the year you could see her grow in knowledge and confidence, this was a wonderful thing to watch. She has a very bright future ahead of her," he said.

Gerving said he has known Welch for three years, and in each of those years she has given it everything she has.

"Kaya is a true Trojan in the way she approaches everything, she worked very hard on the floor and in the classroom. She was an asset to the team and will do awesome in whatever she chooses to do," he said.
