Editorial: Great job at the schools in 2016-17

The school year has already come to an end or is nearly finished for students at the public schools in Cardwell and Whitehall.

This issue of the Whitehall Ledger is full of stories and pictures from graduations and a variety of school events. With the year wrapping up, we are happy to fill the issue with a tremendous amount of positive information about the schools. The Class of 2017 in Whitehall was a tremendous group of kids and we were lucky to have them in our community.

As students get ready for a summer of fun, the Ledger would like to take the time to thank the teachers, staff and administration at all the local schools for their hard working during the 2016-17 school year. They all have a difficult and sometimes thankless job, so everyone once in awhile it’s important to give them a big thanks for helping mold the minds of a future generation.

The Ledger would also like to commend Whitehall Musical Director Janet Heilig for another wonderful year of concerts. Each and every show is original, fun, and well done. There are many hours spent working on the concerts and they always deliver. She takes pride it her job and it resonates with the kid’s performances. Under her direction, Whitehall High School students also once again shined at the district and state music festivals. It was a great group of kids with a passionate leader. Combined they made the community proud. Kyla Simon at Cardwell does an amazing job with her music students. I especially enjoyed the Veteran’s Day performance at the school.

The next few months the school news will slow down, but the pages of the Ledger will once again be full of local schools at the end of August. It’s very important to highlight the students and schools in the paper, and the Ledger takes pride in our coverage.

Thanks to everyone at the schools who helped us out during the year and have a great summer.

JHS
