County Commission Update

Hi Folks,

At our last meeting on July 25th we discussed some of the fees the Fair Board charges the Rodeo Club for events at the Fair Grounds. We appointed Commissioner Kirsch to represent the County on the Boulder Development Fund Board. We approved an $80,000 loan for the North TIF District for infrastructure improvements. We also approved a $300,000 for the South TIF District for infrastructure needs there.

We spent a considerable amount of time discussing financing for the new Rest Area infrastructure at the Boulder interchange. We are pursuing a combination of grants, loans and bonding. We are working on putting together a Targeted Economic Development District (TEDD) which is about the same as a TIF District and an Urban Renewal District (URD). We finally decided to pledge up to $800,000 of Metal Mines money as collateral for the loans and bonds.

We decided to not hire a Recreation Liaison at this time. Instead we will rely on LaDana Hintz, with Planning, Melissa Morris with GIS, and Bruce Binkowski, the Events Coordinator to work on some recreation projects.

FYI: We have the following statement from our Fire Warden, Pat McKelvey: Unless weather and fuel conditions significantly change, we, along with our County, State, and Local partners are considering entering into Stage 1 fire restrictions this week. In the meantime, we would ask that you take extra caution while outside.

If you’re going to have a campfire, make sure it’s dead out before leaving.

Be sure that trailer chains are not dragging on the ground, that equipment in functioning properly, and spark arrestors are in good condition.

In some areas the fuel is so dry that all it takes is one spark to accidently ignite a fire.

Please no open burning and use common sense.
