Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana

WHY Whitehall?

Starting with this issue, the Whitehall Ledger will be highlighting residents from Whitehall and the surrounding area. This will be an amazing way to learn more about them and why they live in Montana.

How did you end up in Whitehall?

Well, first of all, what brought me to Montana is complex. I had been living with a wife & 3 daughters (several dogs as well) in Wyoming & when that went south, my brother-in-law, whom I had been stalking for the past twenty or so years, drove 600 miles in the dead of winter (through blizzards most of the way) to rescue me from my predicament. Since I've been here, I've found my tribe, if you will, both with Covenant Community Church and many of the good people in and around Whitehall.

How long have you lived here?

I've been living here for seven years come the beginning of February.

What is something unique about you?

Something unique about me, I guess, if you want to call it that is my ability to get along with most anyone. Kindness matters to me & I have learned to emphasize with pretty much anyone I come in contact with.

What do you appreciate most about the community?

One thing I appreciate about this community is the way that we pull together when the chips are down & our backs up against the wall (The 19 Mile fire of 2012 comes to mind).

If you could give one bit of advice, what would it be?

To anyone looking to move here; 'become part of this great community-together we stand, divided we fall-offer whatever you can to strengthen it & most of all, enjoy it!'

Where is your favorite place to be in Whitehall?

That's a hard one: lately, I've been enjoying my digs, but I always appreciated going out to the Piedmont Pond, whether to just sit there ruminating on the blessings of life or to enjoy smoking my pipe while I contemplate.

How would your friends describe you?

You'd probably have to ask my friends this question, but 'a good listener' might be one way they'd describe me. I guess I'm kind a mushroom as well ('a fun guy'); my empathetic (or is that just plain 'pathetic'?) nature probably helps there too.

Who would play you in a movie?

I've been told that I look like High Laurie (or a young Harrison Ford), so probably either one of them would do.

What is your proudest accomplishment?

I would have to say the proudest accomplishment for me is the life I've lived, even the mistakes I've made and (hopefully) learned from.

What keeps you in Whitehall?

It just feels like home!
