Editorial: Harvest Dinner great for the community

This Friday evening the Whitehall LDS Church is hosting their annual Harvest Dinner with proceeds going to the Whitehall Area Food Pantry. Local resident can also bring non-perishable food items that will also be given to the pantry.

With a cost of $6 per person or $25 for a family, this is a very important night for the food pantry. In the past few weeks, I have had several editorials that have talked about the importance of donations during the holiday season, and I feel it is once again highly important to stress the importance of events like the Harvest Dinner.

The holiday season is just around the corner, and this is a time that the shelves of the pantry should be stocked as much fully as can be and so they can have enough money to buy things like turkey for local residents.

We are lucky to be in a community that does so much for those who need assistance. Even the smallest donation will help.

One of the best things about the Harvest Dinner is that pays off locally. Volunteers do an amazing job cooking a turkey dinner with all the fixings. $6 for a turkey dinner is pretty darn cheap and to think of where the money is going makes a wonderful meal taste even better.

The event is also an amazing way for the community to come together in unison and share some quality time together. This will be my third time attending the event, and I have enjoyed seeing the large crowds and how happy people seem to be as they chat with friends and neighbors.

Taking the family out for dinner this Friday is $25 – don’t think you beat that deal anywhere.
