EDITORIAL: Get out and enjoy the pool

After several months rainy weather, the calendar has turned to July, the month knowing for the highest temperatures of the year in the Whitehall area.

The July weather is a perfect opportunity for residents to get out and experience a true gem of our area, the Whitehall Community Pool. The pool provides a great setting for people of all ages to enjoy themselves. Along with the normal Monday through Saturday daily hours of 1 to 5:30 p.m., the pool also has night swims Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. The two times give residents who might not be able to make it out during the day a chance to take advantage of the pool in the evening.

Many communities similar to the size of Whitehall do not have a pool and it should be considered a huge asset to the area. The Town of Whitehall, Pool Commission, Pool Manager Allissa Christensen and staff work together to provide a great summertime opportunity.

The pool offers a variety of passes for both individuals and families that should allow a large number of people to spend multiple hot summer days at the pool.

Pool officials are also starting aerobics and lap swim, but will need at least six adults in classes to make it cost effective to the pool. The lap swims provide those who may not want to deal with crowds to not only enjoy the pool, but a great way to stay in shape during the summer. The same can be said for the water aerobics.

If you have never been to the pool, please consider making a trip. Also remember the pool can be rented out for gatherings, and this will provide a unique opportunity for something different, while still enjoying the warmer weather.
