  • Dear Editor: In Support of Gary Buchanan

    GRANT GODBOLT|Oct 5, 2022

Dear Editor, In today’s toxic political climate I believe we need someone positive in Washington DC. Gary Buchanan is running as an Independent for the eastern district house seat for the U.S. House of Representatives. Jefferson County is in the eastern Congressional district. A close friend of mine convinced me to volunteer for the Buchanan campaign. My friend worked for Gary in 1994 when Gary was asked by Governor Marc Racicot to re-organize Montana State Government. My friend has known Gary and his family for about 30 years and is heavily i...

  • Dear Editor: Take a Look at Gary Buchanan

    GRANT GODBOLT|Aug 3, 2022

Dear Editor, Take a look at Gary Buchanan. During these dog days of summer take some time to focus on Gary Buchanan. He is an Independent running for the Second Congressional District of Montana. The Second Congressional District or Eastern Congressional District covers Jefferson, Broadwater, Lewis and Clark, Teton, Pondera, Toole, and most other counties east. Gary Buchanan would best represent Montana in Washington D.C. and get something done. He served three Republic Governors and three Democrat Governors and is endorsed by former...

Hunters, conservationists,...

  • A Tribute to Roger Siemens

    GRANT GODBOLT|Jan 19, 2022

Many of you probably read Roger Siemen’s obituary in the Whitehall Ledger (Jan.12) or in the Montana Standard. Facebook has some complimentary posts that many of you will find interesting. Roger led a full life with many accomplishments. One of Roger’s accomplishments that I appreciated was the work he did from Whitehall as District Ranger of the Jefferson Ranger District, Deerlodge National Forest. Roger was district ranger for about 10 years during the 1980s. Roger said that if district rangers concentrate on three issues they can’t go wrong...

  • Jefferson Valley Sportsman's Association Teams Up with BLM to Control Weeds

    Grant Godbolt|Jun 16, 2021

On June 12 Jefferson Valley Sportsman's Association (JVSA) and two employees of the Butte Field Office of the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) sprayed noxious weeds in the southern portion of the Bull Mountains north of Whitehall. Most of the spraying was done along the Paul Gulch Road (Dump Road) on Public Land to Mud Springs on the Beaverhead – Deerlodge National Forest. Portions of the Tomahawk Ranch (Doug and Sara Salsbury) were also sprayed. The primary weed species were houndstongue, s...
