The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office currently has an opening for one full-time Patrol Deputy. This position will perform general law enforcement duties throughout Jefferson County. This position will be required to reside within the city of Whitehall, MT or have a 10-minute response time to Whitehall, MT within one year of hire date. Wage starting at $30.72. ($63,897, annually), Take home vehicle issued, Office issued handgun or deputies can carry a personally owned handgun if preferred, 12-hour shifts based off the ‘Pitman Schedule’ which allows for deputies to have every other weekend off, and no more than 3 shifts in a row. County funded health insurance with the option of adding additional dependents Requirements Experience as a sworn law enforcement officer preferred, but not required, Must be at least 18 years of age and a citizen of the United States Possess or be eligible for a Montana Driver’s License with a good driving record Must be of excellent moral character with no criminal history Must be willing and able to work nights, weekends and holidays. A thorough background investigation will be conducted including: o Reference checks o Physical fitness test o Written test (National Police Officer Selection Test) o Structured panel interview Top applicants may be subject to an additional interview A medical physical and psychological exam will be required of the top applicant(s) at the expense of Jefferson County.
