    Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) would like to announce and invite the public to comment on a proposal to resurface approximately 8.4 miles of State Highway 29. The project begins approximately 4 miles north of Silver Star at the Junction of MT-41 and MT-55 and extends north 8.4 miles ending at the Junction of MT-41 and MT-2 (Locally known as Cactus Jct.).     The recent Christmas holiday once again showed the giving nature of local residents with two donations to the Whitehall Volunteer Fire Department. Earlier this week, Reverend Tonya R. Whaley, a Pastor for the United Methodist Church presented a check to the department for $500. Whaley who moved to the area in July said the donation was 100 percent of what was raised by parishioners at their Christmas Eve Service.     Esther Mabel Bieber, age 81, of Whitehall passed away unexpectedly at her home on December 28th. Esther was born January 7, 1938 in Elgin, North Dakota to Chris and Ida Stugelmayer. She was raised and attended school in Mott, ND where she met the love of her life, Fred Bieber. They were married on June 2, 1957. They moved many times over the years and finally settled down in Regent, ND where they owned and operated their own bar.     The senior captains on the Whitehall High School wrestling team led by example at last week's Tom LeProwse Bozeman Invitational.
