Wow, we’re finally there, the Lewis and Clark mural located on Jefferson Fresh Foods is going up this Thursday (weather permitting)to replace the original weathered mural. Local contractor Tim Geary has agreed to donate personal time to remove the old mural and put the new mural in place. Dear Editor, I would like to commend the Whitehall Garden Club on their pie event during the Fall Festival last weekend. This enthusiastic crew donned festive pie hats and put on a fun event in the Star Theatre. Whole pies were auctioned off at a silent auction to benefit many non-profits, and slices of pie were sold individually. (Yes, I sampled my fair share). The Whitehall Rotary Club and the local VFW and American Legion will hold a joint celebration of the 100th anniversary of the historic fishpond on November 11th starting at 12:30 PM at the fishpond. The Whitehall Rotary Club completed their annual distribution in October of dictionary/reference books to local third graders. Third grade students in Harrison, Cardwell and Whitehall receive the books each school year. The books are purchased from The Dictionary Project, a national non-profit that promotes literacy. On Monday, October 24, the St. James Physical Therapy Clinic in Whitehall said goodbye and thank you to Gus Trost, who has been a staple at the center since 2007. Trost has accepted a position at St. James Hospital in Butte. He admits he is going to miss this clinic "big time." Whitehall will miss you, Gus.
