    Fresh off an impressive second-place finish at last week's Badger Invitation in Cascade, the Whitehall High School wrestling team will open their home season with three consecutive days of wrestling. The Trojans will start the week with the Whitehall Mixer on Thursday, December 12 scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. The annual Whitehall Duals are slated for Friday, December 13, and Saturday, December 14.   • Fire chief steps down

    Longtime Whitehall Volunteer Fire Department Chief Jeremy Ward has resigned from his position. The Whitehall Town Council approved his resignation at their monthly meeting on Monday. Ward has served in the position for 7.5 years. He has taken a management position with the State of Montana in Butte and will remain as a volunteer for the department.     Local residents will get a chance next week to check out some amazing pieces created by students at the Whitehall K-12 Art Show and Sale. The event is slated to take place Tuesday, December 17 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Art Wing of the school.     It was a well-rounded team effort last weekend for the Whitehall High School wrestling team with the Trojans finishing second out of 23 teams at the Cascade Badger Invitational. Whitehall finished with 185 points, just one point behind Great Falls High. Broadwater was third with 166 points, Boulder was fourth with 142 points, and Columbus/Absarokee was fifth with 125 points.     The Whitehall High School girls basketball team used a balanced offensive attack in their season opener December 7 to pick up a 61-44 win over host Manhattan Christian. The Trojans had four players in double figures with sophomore Brynna Wolfe leading the way with 16 points.
