Grants a boon to public safety

Through the assistance of two recent grants, the Partners United For Life Saving Education (P.U.L.S.E.) was recently able to donate a Power Load Cot System to Jefferson Valley EMS and Rescue.

P.U.L.S.E. was the recent recipient of a $3,000 Northwest Farm Credit Services grant, and the $2,500 Barrick Golden Sunlight Mine grant from the Jefferson Valley Community Foundation.

P.U.L.S.E. Board member Denise Bausch said the mission statement of the non-profit organization is to support the Jefferson Valley and surrounding communities by providing access to ambulance services, training, equipment, supplies and to is dedicated to providing life saving support

Bausch said the donation of the battery-operated cot is a huge help to provide public safety.

"I'm excited I can help my community with the equipment," she said.

Bausch feels the new cot will help out emergency providers by allowing them not to lift as much, will also be beneficial for smaller crews who respond to a call, but most importantly will be about the patient.

"On the worst day for somebody, we want to be at our best for them," she said.

In a letter to the JVCF and Northwest Farm Credit Services, the P.U.L.S.E. Board consisting of Bausch, Vera Jensen, Jenny Scott, Paige Asten, and Sandra Kraha thanked both for their donation.

"With this power cot we will be preventing back injuries for the volunteers to keep them going longer for our service, and when they might not have enough volunteers to respond to calls," the letter stated.

P.U.L.S.E. Board Member Jenny Scott said she was really glad they received the grants and happy people are concerned about saving lives.

Sandy Carey, who serves as the Bozeman Office Local Advisor for Northwest Farm Credit Services, praised the work they do for the community.

"It's great to see an organization that is so community oriented," she said. "They help in all aspects of the community."

Along with the recent donation, Bausch said P.U.L.S.E would also be offering a CPR class December 14. The class will take place from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Borden's Building.

The cost to attend is $35. For more information contact Bausch at 406-491-2573.
