Mine donates "Minnie Mouse" tree

Those who have recently visited the Whitehall Senior Center will have certainly noticed a new Christmas decoration this year.

Near the front window of the center sits a "Minnie Mouse" tree that was donated by the Barrick Golden Sunlight Mine. The tree was donated to the 19th Annual Festival of Trees by Small Car Clinic, and was designed by Susan Nelson. The mine won the tree as part of the auction at the fundraising event.

Senior Center Director Mary Gustin said most who come in really seem to enjoy the tree that features the trademark large ears and shoes of the iconic character.

Gustin said they have used the same tree there for around 30 years, and this really is something different.

Gustin praised the mine for always helping out at the center. Along with this donation, she said they do things throughout the year like donating turkeys for holiday dinners.

She said they really appreciate all there support and the tree really makes the center cheerful.
