Happy New Year and welcome to 2017, a year of new programming and old at the Library! First of all Bruce Ball will be leading a new writer’s group in the evening at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 10th. Anyone who is interested in writing is welcome to bring their work, start something new, give advice or seek advice from others.

Although it seems like winter has just started, the Friends of the Library will be hosting a series of classes on fly fishing. The classes are for children, teen, adults or anyone else who is interested in learning or just accumulating tips on this fun sport for the whole family. The classes will begin on Saturday, January 28th at 2:00 in the Library basement and will end with a field trip to try out everyone’s new skills. If you would like to attend, please let us know so there are enough materials for all.

Thursday night, January 5th is Book Club Bingo at 4:30 p.m. at the Library. Come join the group and learn about all of the great books everyone is reading this winter. Fill up a bingo or go for a black out on the bingo cards and collect a new book to read.

For all of you who have been waiting for the new series of adult watercolor classes to begin, mark your calendars for January 11th at 1:00 p. m. Butch is starting a new series of lessons and the Library is providing the materials. Even if you have never worked with watercolors, the class is a great way to explore this beautiful art medium.

Music Jam is January 12th at 5:30 in the basement. All are welcome to come play along, sing or just listen to the music. Speaking of music, don’t forget the Musical Storytime at 10:30 a.m. with Donna Weldon on January 11th. Preschoolers just love to sing along and play all types of instruments and noisemakers.

Origami is also meeting on Fridays at 4:00 p.m. It is not too late to join Keiko and friends as they explore the art of paper folding.

The Computer classes will begin on Tuesdays and Thursdays, starting January 24th in the basement. All four classes are full but the Library staff is taking reservations for the next set to begin in March. Those who have registered will be contacted by phone with the time and day of their class. The new computers are due to arrive this week so everyone is excited to unpack them.

Mark your calendars for January 16th as the Library will be closed for Martin Luther King Day. As always, feel free to stop by and pick up a January calendar with the times and dates of all the different programs!
