Between the Stacks

It’s Music Jam Time for all the singers, musicians, and patrons who just like to listen in. Music Jam is a group of people who love to make music together in the basement of the Library. The group meets every second Thursday at 5:30 p.m. and is open to anyone who enjoys making a joyful noise.

January 16th the Library will be closed for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. We will be open on Saturday for our usual hours from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

I spent the morning opening our new laptops for the computer classes. They are so much fun and have all types of extras. There is just something so great about using new technology! This session of classes are full but everyone may sign up for the next session. I am calling those registered this week so the classes may begin on January 24th.

The Library will be hosting a traveling exhibit on the settlement of the Irish in the Butte area after the Easter Rebellion of 1916. Along with the exhibit there will be guest speakers, book discussions, maybe performances and other programming for everyone. The Library will receive the exhibit arrival dates in February so planning may begin for the programming. Watch for further information here.

The Library receives many wonderful donations like the books from the estate of Jeannie Amoroso. It was her wish that the Library be the recipient of her hardback book collection.

Donating materials to the Library benefits all of us in many ways. Books are often added to the collection if they are not included already, duplicate books are sold through the Friends of the Library to buy new materials, and other things are put on the free shelf for everyone to enjoy.

History Changers will meet at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 17, at the Library. This time we will be discussing the outcome of World War I if the United States had chosen to stay neutral. It should be a great discussion with many possible outcomes.

Adult Watercolor classes has started up again and are meeting on Wednesday afternoons at 1:00 p.m. The materials are provided so new artists may just stop by and try it out.

As always, if you have any questions about the Library, please contact us at 287-3763 or stop by. The Library’s hours are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.; Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.; and Saturdays from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
