Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana

For Your Information

First off: It was Senator Tester that called Rebecca Joy to congratulate her on her appointment to the Air Force Academy. Senator Daines did also. Zinke had interviewed her, but was unable to communicate with her about the appointment. At any rate, she had the approval of all of Montana’s Congressional representatives.

The Trojan Wrestlers have had some shirts designed and made for themselves and fans alike. If you would like to purchase one, get a hold of Michelle Johnson at 490-2861.

Renee Webster hosted and Erv Hedegaard was a guest at the afternoon of cards with the Whitehall Pinochle Club. Mary Gustin placed High; Lucile Buchanan, Second; Gladys Ballard, Low and Martha Hanson won Pinochle. Patty Strozzi will be the next hostess.

Whitehall Librarian, Jeannie Ferriss, has been using her expertise helping Cardwell students with the use and the value of a library and how books take one into many worlds of learning and entertainment. Kindergarten through grade 4 see her one day and the rest of the school another.

The gyms are in constant use this time of year. Even on Monday nights basketball competitions are played. Following a Whitehall Junior High game the Whitehall Home School Crimson Crusaders hosted the Eagles from Mount Ellis Academy in Bozeman. It was a nail biter with Whitehall winning by one point - a free throw - in the last minute of the game. Opportunities were there for a wider margin, but the basket seemed to have a lid on it. The girls have one more game - this Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Tia Kober gym. One Senior, Makenna Higgins, along with the coaches and volunteer Julie Grinder were honored for their work with the team.

Ron Hunt brought a photo of a group of men from Waterloo who are getting ready to board a train for military service during World War I.

If any of the men can be identified, it would be interesting know where they served, etc. It would be helpful if there is someone who knows anything about men from Waterloo that served in the War. Contact Ron Hunt at 287-3329. Local history can be fascinating.

My faithful calendar has this: “Inside every older person, there’s a younger person wondering what happened.” A quote from Ashleigh Brilliant “God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” II Timothy 1:7
