Trojans continue to wrestle strong

It was another successful week for the Whitehall high School wrestling team.

The team traveled to compete Friday in a mixer against Townsend and Cascade. According to coach Steve Sacry, team scores were not kept at the event, but Whitehall did well, winning all but two of their 12 matches. Sacry said Mike Wilkinson highlighted the night by scoring 18 points in his match.

The following day, the Trojan wrestlers competed in a dual tournament against Great Falls Central, Townsend, and Columbus.

Whitehall beat Great Falls 68-12, lost to Townsend 51-24, and beat Columbus 36-32 for third place.

Sacry said the highlight of the Columbus match was Adrian Bright securing the win by pin.

Three Trojan wrestlers went undefeated over the weekend. Dawson Hoerauf (5-0), Connor Johnson (3-0), and Clancy Russell all had perfect weekends.

Senior Braxtyn Armstrong and Riley Forcella both were 3-1, Wilkinson was 2-1, Kayden Howser went 2-2, Wyatt Powers was 1-2 and Bright had a 1-4 record.

The team competed last night in a senior night event honoring Armstrong. They will next compete at the Butte Central Mixer Friday.
