School Board seats open in 2017

Elections are on the horizon for three Board of Trustee positions in the local school districts.

The three-year position in the Whitehall School District 4 & 47 currently held by Angie Davis, and the three-year position in the Whitehall School District 2 (Cardwell) held by Paul Shaw are both open in 2017.

At a meeting last week, Superintendent John Sullivan said Davis informed him she would not be running. Shaw stated at the meeting he plans to run again.

Those interested in running must submit a Declaration of Oath of Candidacy from by March 23, 2017. The forms are available at the District Clerk’s Office.

If necessary, the election would take place May 2, 2017. District Clerk Patti Drake said last week it would be a mail in election.

There is also one three-year position open in Cardwell School District 16 and 31. Those interested must submit nominating petitions on or before March 23. The position will fill the seat of Mike Mastel who is not seeking re-election.

Nominees need five signatures from registered voters qualified to cast votes in the district. The petitions are available at the Cardwell School office, or by emailing cardwellclerk@gmail.com.

The Cardwell election would also be May 2.
