Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana

JVSA Banquet next Saturday

It will be a good time for a great cause next Saturday at the Whitehall Community Center.

The Jefferson Valley Sportsmen Association will be conducting their annual banquet March 18 with a cocktail hour slated for 6 p.m., and dinner scheduled for 7 p.m.

JVSA member Hervey Perez said the event is not only a fun time, it is also the biggest fundraising method for the club that has been in existence for over 30 years. Perez said said the money donated will be put to good use. He added past accomplishments of the JVSA include building a children’s fishing pond, a shooting range for members, as well as hosting awareness seminars for aquatic weed identification. According to JVSA President Don Drake, in the past they have sponsored the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Montana Game Warden’s Association and the Jefferson River Foundation.

“We work with FWP (Fish, Wildlife, Parks) on issues that will help opportunity for hunting a fishing for sportsmen and women,” Drake said.

The cost to attend is $20. This includes the meal and annual membership to the association.

For more information about tickets, please contact Perez at 406-593-1598, Keith Pietsch at 406-287-3330, or Don Drake at 406-287-1598.

Perez said tickets would be available at the door, but they encourage people to get them through the presale. Perez said they have had a lot of people donate to the 2017 event. He said there would be a silent auction, live auction, and drawing winners.
