GARY LEE NYLUND

Gary Lee Nylund, 70, of Whitehall, Montana (and Cook, MN), completed his earthly chores on Friday, March 10, 2017 at Ft. Harrison, MT, and is resting in his loving Savior's arms.

Gary was born on November 4, 1946 to Theodore "Ted" and Eva (Sokoloski) Nylund in Cook, MN. He attended Cook High School and graduated in 1964. After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp from 1966-1968.

Gary was a purchasing agent for many years with various companies and a self-employed contractor. There wasn't anything he couldn't fix. He enjoyed building roads with his "skiddy" tractor and in the early days, he loved to run a sawmill like his Dad. Gary was a people person who loved the outdoors and loved life. He was a gracious husband, brother, dad, stepdad, grandpa, and friend. He played guitar and enjoyed singing with his brothers and sisters when he was growing up. Gary moved to Montana in 2008 where he met his loving wife, Kathy. They were married in May 2010. Gary enjoyed the Montana outdoors by fishing, hunting, camping, and spending time with family and friends. Gary accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and he loved the Lord. He always gave thanks to Him for everything. He has many family members and friends who mourn his loss.

Gary is survived by his loving wife Kathy of Whitehall, sons, Chris (Sheryl) Nylund, Bozeman, MT, David Nylund, San Ysidro, CA, 4 Grandchildren, & 1- great-grandchild, brother, Ben (Donna) Nylund, Springdale, AR, sisters, Bea Amundson, Cook, MN, Janet (Frank) Tomsich, Chisholm, MN, & Karen (Lee) Schaar, Bemidji, MN, step-children, Robin (Tyler) Markuson, Ekalaka, MT, Rick (Rosemary) Schmidt, Laurel, MT, Christy (Kevin) Turman, Whitehall, MT, Stacy (Kurt) Johnston, Dillon, MT, and Jamie Schmidt, Whitehall, MT, 13 step-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ted and Eva Nylund, brother & sister-in-law, Curt & Marcia Nylund, brother-in-law, Ron Amundson and Niece Julie Stahlberg.

Memorial Services will be held on Friday, March 17, 2017 at Whitehall Baptist Church at 10 a.m .with a Military honors graveside service following the memorial service. Arrangements by K & L Mortuary of Whitehall, MT. A Memorial service will also be held in May in Cook, MN, arrangements by Mlaker Funeral Home.
