Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana

Between the Stacks

Ready to tap your toes and lift your spirits? This Thursday, May 11, at 5:30 p.m. the Library will be hosting an evening of Irish music. The event is free and open to anyone who enjoys live music with an Irish twist. Bring your children and make a night of it for the whole family! The Erin in Exile exhibit will stay at the Library until the end of May.

If you haven’t had a chance to see it come anytime during regular hours. The exhibit is in order throughout the adult section and contains a wealth of information and photographs covering the history of Irish nationalism in Montana after the Easter Rising of 1916.

The Friends hosted a wonder reception for the opening of the exhibit and almost 40 people were in attendance. A big thank you to all of the Friends for the delicious treats and the Library staff for all of the extra work they did getting things ready. If you would like to join the fun and be a Friend, just stop by or call for more information.

The Ladies Writing Guild will beginning meeting this Friday, May 12, at 10:00. If you have always wanted to try your hand at writing and would like some positive feedback from published authors, please join us. There is no age limit and everyone is welcome.

The Tai Chi class will continue at 9:30 through May. The ladies have decided to move to 9:00 a.m. during the summer as Countdown to Kindergarten will begin on June 5 at 10:30.

If you like a gentle exercise program Tai Chi may be the right fit for you. The class is done to several different video series so everyone may follow along.

If you have a child who is registered for Kindergarten next year, they are eligible for our new Countdown to Kindergarten program this summer.

The Library will be offering sessions based on the early learning skills children need to master before they begin school. This program will flow in conjunction with Story Time so children will be able to advance through the early learning education section of the Library’s programming.

I would like to thank the Friends of the Library for donating a wonderful movie basket to the Black Tie Blue Jeans event. The Library has been the recipient of many grants which benefit the community which are funded through Black Tie Blue Jeans and the Jefferson County Community Foundation Grants. Thank you to all of you who spend so many hours enabling the Library to do more for the patrons of the Whitehall area.

As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to give us a call at 287-3763 or stop by the Library. Our hours are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday 9:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.; Tuesday and Thursday 2:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.; and Saturday 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
