Welker awarded scholarship

10 Whitehall High School graduate Bryn Welker was recently awarded the $1,000 Whitehall American Legion Post #24 and VFW Post #4603 Dennis Smith Memorial Scholarship.

Post member Roger Steerman surprised Welker with the news of the scholarship on her last day of school in May.

Welker will be attending Montana State University where she will be studying astrophysics.

Steerman said he was impressed with not only the resume of Welker, but also the essay she had to write for the scholarship.
