High School names new cheer coach

The Whitehall High School cheer squad has a new head coach.

At their meeting last month, the Whitehall School Board of Trustees voted to approve the hire of Allissa Christensen.

"I'm excited to be working with a school that supports the Cheer program. That makes n big difference in my experience. I'm happy to share my talents," Christensen said.

The owner of the Christensen School of Dance in downtown Whitehall, Allissa is no stranger to teaching high school students. Christensen started student teaching when she was 15, and while in high school competed and continued to teach at several studios and gyms. While in college in Idaho, she did the choreography for competitive teams.

"I've been teaching dance and tumbling for quite awhile. I also coached while we lived in Harlowton so I guess you could say I'm familiar with the way things work. I'm looking forward to getting back into cheer, seeing more crowd interaction at games and more school spirit," she said.

A cheer camp has been scheduled from July 17 to 19 in the Multi Purpose Room at the High School. The camp will run from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and is $45 for anyone in grades 9 to 12.

To sign up, please contact Christensen at 406-210-8629 or email allissa.christensen@gmail.com.
