Caverns hosting eclipse event

A total solar eclipse will occur on Monday, August 21, 2017. This event has been described as the Great American Eclipse. “Total solar eclipses occur once every one to two years but are only visible from less than half a percent of the Earth’s surface”, said Fred Espenak (a retired astrophysicist from NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center).

On Monday, August 21st at 10:00 a.m. to Noon Lewis and Clark Caverns State Park is hosting a special event for people to join and watch this incredible event.

The University of Montana will be giving an interpretive program on solar eclipses. Shortly following the program: roughly 10:17 a.m. the Solar Eclipse will begin, then roughly 11:35 a.m. the solar eclipse will reach its max with a 95 percent totality.

This amazing event will be held at Lewis and Clark Caverns’ Campground Amphitheater! The park will have Solar Eclipse Glasses for use, if you have your own we encourage you to bring yours. The event is free to public, non-residents just need to pay the $6 vehicle entrance fee.
