Editorial: Shakespeare in the Parks an asset to community

This week’s issue of the Whitehall Ledger has a front-page article about the upcoming Shakespeare in the Parks performance.

The event will take place August 28 in Whitehall, and is a tremendous opportunity for residents of all ages to get out and experience a wonderful performance in a beautiful setting.

The value of having events like this in Whitehall is immeasurable. The arts are vital to any community and having a chance to see this quality of a production in Whitehall is a big deal. While the 2017 performance of “You Never Can Tell” by George Bernard Shaw will certainly be a highlight for adults, it is a way to introduce kids and teenagers to the arts in a fun way. Seeing an outdoor performance is a super way for the family to get together and spend an evening.

The Chamber should be commended for bringing this event to the community every year. A big thank you should also be given to Bill and Tamara Pullman, Red Apron Catering, Ruth Lott and the Two Bit for sponsoring the 2017 production. These individuals and businesses know the importance of the show to the community and it’s a big deal they help to help make this happen. And a big thanks to all the others who all helped put this together.

For those who have not seen at Montana Shakespeare in the Parks performance, they are well done. They put a lot of work and effort into the show and it shows.

Another positive part of the Whitehall performance is the box lunches that can be ordered by contacting the chamber. This allows those in attendance to not only watch the show, but also have a quality meal. There is less than two weeks to the performance so please contact the Chamber if you would like to order the meal.
