Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana

Interact Club raising money for fire victims

The Whitehall High School Interact Club is stepping up to help Montanans affected by this summers devastating wildfires.

The club has initiated the "Change For Fires" fundraiser for families in the Treasure State. Donation jars have been set up at Jefferson Fresh Foods, The Corner Store, Pepper Tree and both Whitehall School offices.

According to club member and senior Ryan Murphy, the idea originated about a week ago, and it came from all the sad stories in the news about families losing everything they have and the destruction the fires have on their livelihoods.

"It is extremely important for us to give back. We don't want to have to sit back and watch families suffer when we can step in and help," Murphy said.

All proceeds will be donated to the 406 Family Aid Foundation.

Murphy said this is an organization out of Stevensville that aids families in times of financial hardships caused by natural disasters.
