Middle school runners shine at Missoula meet

A talented group of Whitehall Middle School runners shined last Saturday at the Mountain West Classic in Missoula.

The large meet included competitors from Montana, Washington, Idaho and Wyoming.

Eighth grader Adam Williams finished an impressive 51st out of 312 runners with a time of 8:36.94. Seventh grader Dane Hoover also had a solid race, placing 110th with a time of 9:10.77. Kollin Smith also competed for the boys team and finished with a time of 12:00.55. Sixth grader Ashlynn Alley placed 110th out of 338 runners in the girls race with a time of 10:31.22.

“The Junior High kids that were at the meet have been working hard and we will have some good future runners,” head coach Kerry Sacry said.

In the girl’s varsity race, Madison Loomis was the top finisher for Whitehall with a time of 23:01.09. Asha Noyes finished the race with a time of 26:25.54.

Ryan Murphy was the top Whitehall finisher in the boy’s race with a time of 20:01.51. Dawson Powers finished with a time of 20:16.71, Kenzie Hugulet had a time of 22:52.32, and Adrian Bright finished with a time of 23:37.43. It was the first time competing this season Powers and Hugulet.

The team will next compete Thursday in Helena.
