Between the Stacks

What a glorious fall we are having in Whitehall! It is great time to get out and attend some amazing programs the Library is having in honor of our veterans. On October 8th at 6:30 p.m., Arlene Weber will be discussing life in Whitehall during the First World War. She will be bringing artifacts and information to share from the museum about people, lifestyles, military life, and other fascinating stories about an era Whitehall will never forget.

I also want to get a special thanks to the Friends of the Library for providing treats for all of our November programming. They always provide a yummy selection to choose from.

On Friday, November 10th the Library will be closed for the Veterans Day holiday. We will be open on Saturday during our regular hours from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The Library will also be closed on November 23rd and 24th for Thanksgiving, regular hours also will resume on Saturday of that week.

If you hear singing in the basement on Thursdays, it is the Afterschool Program making a joyful noise with Donna Weldon. The students are enjoying three weeks of music camp with Donna and her variety of instruments. Donna and friends will be singing and playing on November 29 for a celebration of World War I music at 6:30 p.m.

Holiday Art Camp will begin on Nov. 13 at 4:00 p.m. Children will be making decorations, ornaments, and other fun projects to get everyone in the holiday mood. If you have children kindergarten through 5th grade and would like to join the fun, please call the Library and let us know so there are plenty of supplies for everyone.

The Friends have decided to have a book sale the Saturday of the Christmas Stroll on December 9th in the basement. More information on that event will be announced but if you have books you would like to donate please drop them by the Library during regular hours. The sale proceeds will go to the Friends for special programming and other Library projects. There will be no early sales as the books will not be able to be displayed until Friday evening after Origami class. Thank you for donating and come see Santa at the Library on December 9th!
