Cheer team bringing back 'Little Trojans'

The Whitehall High School Cheer Team is bringing back the Little Trojans.

The once popular program will return next month, and is open to local kids in grades K-6. A performance is scheduled for the December 16 Whitehall basketball game against Jefferson County High School.

"Since I've been in Whitehall, I've heard quite a few people mention the 'Little Trojans' and how much they miss it. One of my goals is to bring back school spirit and what a great way to do that," WHS Cheer Coach Allissa Christensen said.

The Little Trojans will practice December 14 from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. and again on the morning of the 16th from 10 to 11:30 a.m.

"I am really excited to see the turnout for the little Trojans. It will be a bonus on both ends. The cheerleaders will be able to really demonstrate leadership skills and the elementary kids will be able to see what cheerleading is all about and hopefully want to join when they are older (and also have fun)." Christensen said.

The cost for the program that will serve as a fundraiser for the team is $35. This will include a t-shirt hairbow and a snack at practice.

"Now that we have 15 girls on the squad this season, we need some extra support now more than ever. We don't do a lot of fundraisers and I personally think this is a unique one," Christensen said.
