Council lifts suspension

The Whitehall Town Council voted unanimously Monday night to reinstate suspended member Francine Giono-Janik.

Prior to the 5-0 vote, Town Attorney Ed Guza stated it is his opinion Janik is ready get back to the position and recommended she be placed back on the Council. Alderman Joe Adams made the motion that was quickly seconded and passed with no further discussion.

Giono-Janik had been under suspension since November of 2016.

The Council also voted to approve bids for the purchase of four town ambulances. The bid for the 2015 Chevrolet Ambulance with a Stryker Cot and Spot Chains was awarded to A1 Ambulance of Butte for $68,000. The bid for the 1998 Ford Ambulance was also awarded to A1 for a price of $6,300. The 2011 Ford F450 with a Stryker Cot was awarded to Stevensville Ambulance for a price of $31,551. The bid for the 1997 Ford E350 was awarded to Response Equipment Specialists for a price of $2,506.

In his monthly report, Mayor Dale Davis said he had received a formal complaint about a Council member from Town Clerk/Treasurer Summer Fellows, and this will be addressed following the town handbook starting Tuesday.

The December meeting was the last for Davis and council members Mac Smith, Joe Adams, and Tom Jenkin.

Local resident Bridget Morse presented Davis with a key to the town, and Maxine Samuelson thanked the governing body for their time in service.
