Wrestlers finish 4th

Despite being shorthanded, the Whitehall High School wrestling team was still able to put up a strong showing at last week's Class B/C Duals at Great Falls Central.

The Trojans finished the in fourth out of 17 teams at the one-day tournament.

Whitehall opened the tournament with a 43-15 win over Simms, and a 36-27 victory over Columbus. In the semifinals, the Trojans fell 49-21 to Eureka. In their final match of the day, Whitehall was upended 55-22 by Huntley Project. Eureka finished in first, Boulder was second, and Huntley Project was third. Townsend placed fifth and Columbus ended the day in sixth place.

Assistant coach Steve Sacry said the team was missing several members Saturday and that makes a huge difference in dual matches. He added they were however able to get a number of significant individual matches as they prepare for state.

The team will wrap up their regular season Friday night when they travel to Butte Central High School.

The divisional tournament is scheduled for February 3 in Columbus.
