Hoerauf commits to Minot State

Will play defensive line for Beavers

A four-year starter and one of the best lineman in school history, Whitehall High School senior Dawson Hoerauf will continue his football career in college.

Hoerauf committed earlier this month to play for Minot State, an NCAA Division II school in Minot, North Dakota.

Following his senior season, Hoerauf was named both all-state and all conference, and was selected to play in the Montana East/West Shrine Bowl Game, and the Class B All Star Game. He was also named to the USA Today All-USA Montana Football Team.

Hoerauf is excited for the next step on his journey. He said the Minot program has a great group of young coaches ready to turn the program around, adding they have the attitude they can go out and win a championship. Hoerauf praised the facilities at the school, and said he would be playing defensive line for the Beavers. Hoerauf is hoping to earn playing time during his freshman campaign.

Trojans head football coach Dan Lacey said he was excited and proud when Dawson and his family let him know he was committing to Minot.

"He fell in love with the program over the summer at a camp he attended there. He will play a 1 technique for the Beavers, which I think is a great fit for him. His footwork and speed are what I look forward to seeing transition to the next level. His hand movement was a huge emphasis for him his senior season and he was able to use his hands to take on double teams almost every snap," Lacey said. "The Beaver football program is very lucky to get Dawson because he leads by example and does everything the right way. The program and community will instantly see how lucky we were to have him in Trojan Country for the last four years."

Dawson is the son of Bob and Jennifer Hoerauf of Whitehall.
