Skogen joins race for Justice of Peace

A second Whitehall resident has filed to run for the Jefferson County Justice of the Peace.

According to Jefferson County Election Administrator Bonnie Ramey, Larry Skogen filed for the office prior to the March 12 deadline. He will be joined in the race by Kevin Brunet of Whitehall, Steve Anderson of Montana City, and Dean Hildebrand of Boulder. The elected official will take over for longtime Justice of the Peace Dennis Giulio.

The primary election is scheduled for June 5 and the general election will take place November 6.

A list obtained last week showed Clerk/Recorder/Assessor Ramey, Attorney Steve Haddon, Superintendent of Schools Anika McCauley and Treasurer Bonnie Kunz all running unopposed.

Incumbent Commissioner (District 3) Robert Mullen is being challenged by David Murray.
