Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana
Gary Seccomb passed away in Virginia on March 23, 2018 after a brief illness. He was born in Butte, Montana on May 12, 1954, the eldest son of Ernest Lee Seccomb and Catherine Alice Mulcahy Seccomb. Gary received his education in Butte schools, graduating from Butte High School with the class of 1972 and went on to study drafting. He had a career in mining, working in mines in Whitehall and Virginia City, Montana as well as Metaline Falls, Washington. Gary recently relocated to Virginia, where he lived his last months of life with his companion, Elizabeth Kennedy.
One of eight Seccomb boys, Gary spent many hours shooting hoops and playing softball with brothers and friends. He was a loyal Yankees fan to the end. A favorite pastime was fishing the waters of Southwest Montana, a state he loved, hated to leave, and to which he hoped to return. A cancer diagnosis while in Virginia thwarted his homecoming. While Gary did not have children of his own, he loved and was loved by his nieces and nephews. He will be sorely missed at family gatherings by Tim, Maddie, and Nick Seccomb, Claire Britton, Anthony and Emma Seccomb, Cati and Kyle Seccomb, Cheyenne Roundtree, and Samantha Seccomb.
Gary was preceded in death by his father Ernest Seccomb, brother Lee Seccomb, nephew Joe Seccomb, as well as grandparents Maurice and Catherine Harrington Mulcahy, Ernest and Alice McComb Seccomb, and aunt Mary Seccombe. He is survived by his mother Catherine Seccomb, long-time companion Elizabeth Kennedy, siblings Jay (Kelley) Seccomb, Bob (Lisa) Seccomb, Pat (Marie) Seccomb, Margie (Jim Britton) Seccomb, Dan (Lilia) Seccomb, Paul (Toni) Seccomb, Brian Seccomb, Sandy (Jim) Regan, Gail (Evan) Barrett, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
