Davis art exhibit open house September 9

At the Boulder Hot Springs

The historic Boulder Hot Springs has invited local resident, Kathleen Davis, to exhibit her artwork from September 1 until late October. An open house reception will take place September 9 from noon to 2 p.m. in the dining hall and she would like to invite the public to come meet her and view her work.

"I wish I could draw or paint," Kathleen said to her husband after attending an art exhibit in 2010. She had no classes or formal training so believed the she would not be able to produce anything worth viewing. That Christmas, her husband gifted her with a charcoal and graphite drawing kit along with a 'how to draw" book and encouraged her to practice. He has been her most supportive fan since then. This was the beginning of her art journey that continues up to the present.

Since that time she has experimented with colored pencils, acrylics, watercolor, pastels, and pen and wash, has taken a drawn and a watercolor class from local artists, watched countless You Tube and other on-line tutorials, and has read books on techniques on drawing and different painting mediums. After retiring in 2015, she has spent many hours immersed in her art at the kitchen table and with other local artists, including the PIPS art group in Whitehall, that have been incredibly supportive of her endeavors.

Kathleen was born in Maine and raised on a dairy farm witnessing the beauty of animals, the seasons, and the countryside. She was lucky enough to be able to travel some in her adult life and viewed wonderful scenes, animals, and people from, diverse places. After moving to Montana 17 years ago, she has been inspired by the state and has an endless source of subjects/scenes to paint.

If unable to attend the open house, the exhibit can be viewed seven das a week during business hours.
