Isaac (Ike) J. Errett

Isaac (Ike) J. Errett passed away peacefully on October 20, 2018, at home, surrounded by family and friends.

Isaac was born December 3rd, 1936, to Jacob and Irene Errett in Greensburg, Pennsylvania. Isaac and his sister Peggy (aka: Margaret Alice) attended Greensburgh High School, after which, Isaac attended the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. He later achieved his undergraduate and graduate degrees from the Penn State University, and Montana School of Mines (Montana Tech), respectively.

In 1960, Isaac married his first wife, Helen (Patterson). They had five children together; Susan, Bruce, Jeff, Jennifer, and John. As a family, the lived in various places, before settling in Southwest Montana.

In 1998, while training his beloved rottweilers, Isaac met Nancy Kurth. They were married later that year, and were together for twenty years. Isaac inherited two stepdaughters, Allison Kurth (Randall) and Codi Smith.

Isaac was a traveler by nature. Isaac worked in Papua New Guinea and Australia. He would frequently regale those close to him with tales of tribal wars, and pictures of his time there. Isaac regularly traveled the United States -- sight-seeing, hiking, and fly fishing. He took great delight in teaching those close to him to fish, and spending time finding new fishing spots with his best friend Leroy Friel. Isaac traversed the world as both an engineer, and professor, which afforded him the opportunity to do what he loved most – preach the gospel. Isaac was an active member of the Gideons, and never missed an opportunity to tell others of Christ's love.

During Isaac's later years, he enjoyed nothing more than being with his grandchildren. He was a loving and devoted grandfather. Isaac adored taking short walks and playing games with his grandsons Jeremiah Smith and Gabriel Randall, as well as spending time with his newest granddaughter, Daphne Errett. In his final days, Isaac greatly appreciated adventuring with his caregiver, Miranda Hettick, and friend Mac Smith.

Isaac was buried at home in his family plot, October 20th, per his wishes. A memorial was held at Floral Park Baptist on October 21st. One of Isaac's last requests to pastor Johnathan Turner was "...just tell them about Jesus." Friends and family were happy to receive the message.

"I sing because I'm happy, I sing because I'm free/For His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me..."

Isaac is survived by his wife Nancy, his seven children – Susan, Bruce, Jeff (Vaia), Jennifer, John, Allison, and Codi; seven grandchildren -- Joseph and Beth, Aleena and Mathew, Jeremiah, Gabriel, Daphne; great-granddaughter Evelyn, his beloved sister Peggy, and his ex-wife Helen.
