Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana

WHS play next week

Whitehall High School drama students have been working hard in anticipation of their annual spring play.

The student's performances of "The Hitchin' Post" are scheduled for Tuesday, April 16, and Thursday, April 18 at 7 p.m.

"This is a great group of kids to work with – there is a lot of raw talent and laughter combined with effort," said director Marci Whitehurst.

The cast for the play is Sawyer Keener, Allee Scafani, Karlie Wagner, Maggie Whitehurst, Seth Carr, Marissa Ellison, Charlynn Mercer, Rebecca Wagner, Adam Williams, Wyatt Biggers, Dalaney Scafani and Meagan Johnson. The stage crew is Connor Graham, Kendra Klappan, Katie Whitehurst and Madison Loomis.

According to Marci, "The Hitchin' Post" is a Texas farce set in a general store where locals gather, adding it is family friendly fun for all ages.

"Everyday life is turned upside down when a young couple enters--in a hurry to outrun his momma, but they are slowed down by a couple of robber wannabes trying to make ends meet and a baseball-loving Sheriff. The audience should be ready to laugh and enjoy an evening out," she said.

The performances will also give local residents the opportunity to help support Montana Highway Patrol Trooper Wade Palmer who was shot and critically injured in March.

Wyatt Biggers is spearheading a fundraising opportunity in the drama department to raise funds specifically for Palmer's wife and kids.

A donation box will be out during both shows and some proceeds will go towards the family.

"We hope to see the community come and support us and Trooper Palmer by attending this show! Thank you Whitehall," Whitehurst said.
