Lady Trojans battle hard in two road setbacks

The Whitehall High School volleyball team battled to the end but ultimately fell in two hard-fought matches last week.

The Lady Trojans were defeated 23-25, 19-25, 24-26 Thursday against Manhattan.

"The girls played so hard against Manhattan. Manhattan is a good team and all three games were really close," said head coach Kyla Simon.

Kendra Klapan led the team with 22 kills and two blocks, Haley Briggs had 12 assists, and Meagan Johnson finished with eight digs. Johnson and Hannah Tebay had a team high two aces.

On Saturday, Whitehall fell in five games against Lone Peak.

Simon said the team was missing two starters and the rotation change threw them off a bit, adding the team also looked a little tired.

The Lady Trojans will be on the road Thursday against Jefferson.

Looking towards this week, Simon said she is happy with how things are progressing from the team and she is proud of each player on the team.

"Close games and long games are the best thing for us right now in the beginning of the season. We are learning from our mistakes and trying to get better every day," she said.
