Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana

JVCF Awards 2020 Grants

The Jefferson County Community Foundation once again showed their love and appreciation for local non-profits at last week's Short and Sweet event at the Whitehall Community Center.

Board member Amy French thanked those in attendance and said the JVCF only works because of everybody working together and it is such an honor to have so many organizations that take the money they grant and go out and improve the community.

Grants were awarded in 2020 to the Whitehall Chamber of Commerce, the Greater Whitehall Area chapter of LOVE Inc., the Jefferson Valley Museum, and MSU Extension. The chamber plans to use the money to help fix and restore the Lewis and Clark Expedition Murals in town, LOVE Inc. plans to use the grant to help open a clothing closet at the Zion Lutheran Church, and the museum is going to use the 2020 funding to help build a research room.

The $2,500 Barrick Golden Sunlight Mine Grant was awarded to P.U.L.S.E. who plans on using the money for a washer, dryer, and refrigerator and their new location 201 W. Legion.

Three $1,000 mystery grants were also awarded this year.

Gold Junction Presents is a new non-profit dedicated to bringing arts and culture into Whitehall and will be using the money to help bring more events into town.

The Pool Pals will put money into their accounts to help out the Whitehall Community Pool in the future, the Whitehall Food Pantry plans on using the money to help buy food and keep shelves stocked.

ABOUT

The JVCF is a private, grassroots, hometown, permanent foundation to ensure that there will be a source of income now and in the future. This income will fund worthwhile community projects that improve the quality of life for the greater Whitehall area citizens.

The community foundation was established in 2001 for the purpose of building a permanent endowment fund for Jefferson Valley residents. We received our own 501(c)(3) in 2014 retroactive to 2013. Our endowment has grown to more than $211,000 and we have granted over $94,000 to 35 different non-profit organizations and exempt government entities to improve the quality of life in our beautiful Jefferson Valley.
