Trojans Head North, Battle Conrad Then Shelby

The Whitehall wrestling team headed north this weekend to compete at Conrad and then Shelby.

Friday we started off with a dual against Conrad. Conrad has consistently been a powerhouse in the northern division. Whitehall won the dual 49-18 and were lead by individual wins from their senior wrestlers, Dawson Powers (pin in the second period), Trentin Walker (9-1), Dallen Hoover (pin in the first), and Jamus DuBois (7-1). Others were able to earn forfeit team points were Alley Antonsen, Michael Reiff, Miles Hoerauf, Justin Kuehl and Leo Scafani. Reiff and Hoerauf won their exhibition matches.

Others competing were Isaac Skogen, Gavin Watson, Dane Hoover, and Kyle Denny.

Our next dual was against Eureka. Eureka earned the 3rd place finish at last years state tournament. They have good coaching and strong wrestlers. The Whitehall wrestlers were up for the challenge, beating Eureka 40-22. Wins during this dual included Skogen (6-3), Walker (first period pin), Dallen Hoover (second period pin), Denny (11-1), Hoerauf (second period pin), DuBois (third period pin), Scafani (6-1) and Dane Hoover (4-0). Others to compete, Kenzy Best, Dallen Lanes, Antonsen, Reiff, Watson, and Wesley Biggers.

The wrestling in Shelby didn't pit team against team, but used a mixer format.

This is useful because the other teams present, Shelby, Valier, Sims, Choteau and Chester all have small teams. The administrator pairs up competitive matches from the available wrestlers. Each of our wrestlers had two matches and Whitehall wrestled well.

The biggest news may be the home matches this weekend, the 15th and 16th. We will be hosting Colstrip, Townsend, Anaconda, Cascade, East Helena, and Manhattan. Wrestling starts Fri at 5:00, and Sat at 10:00. We head to Dillon 1-19 at 5:00.
