Let's Talk...The Southern Border

Picture yourself standing on a scenic overlook, overlooking the Rio Grande at four in the morning in the Texas town of Roma. Next to you is a Counterterrorism Specialist. Across the river is the town of Miguel Aleman, Mexico and you can hear the rapid fire of automatic weapons, the boom of grenades and smaller caliber weapons mixed in. It is a war zone. It sounds intense and long lasting. This a is a battle for control between two rival cartels, The Gulf Cartel and the Las Zeta Cartel.

This is not the scene from a movie. This is a segment from investigate reporter Lara Logan’s show on Fox Nation. Born in South Africa, she is gutsy and puts herself in dangerous situations to get the truth. It angers me a bit that you can only see this if you subscribe to their service. Most people have no idea what is going on and her report should be before the general public.

The Counterterrorism Specialist notes that this battle has been going on for four days. The last attack was at noon the day before. The next scene shows the Mexico State Police doing the clean-up. Picking up dead bodies of cartel soldiers, hauling off destroyed vehicles. The citizens sweet up the mess, 50 caliber holes in buildings - holes big enough to stick your thumb through. This is just one of many such stories. The cartels have military grade weapons, a war chest in the billions, and are not constrained by law or rules of war.

Those coming across the border must pay the cartels. It is estimated that in 2017, the cartels made $2.3 billion dollars just from South American immigrants. The cartels are so organized that they have wrist bands, so they know who has paid and who hasn’t. It I estimated that the cartels make $30 million dollars a month trafficking people across the border. Cartels have branched out from the days of marijuana and cocaine. They even have an alliance with China to control the flood of drugs coming across the border. Cartels traffic women and children for prostitution throughout the United States. The main hub is New York City; they get $100,000 to $200,000 for a virgin girl. Across the river, the city of Roma, Texas has become a main road for the cartel’s drug running and human trafficking.

At least ten women a day are raped, tortured, and killed making this trip. More than 35,000 people a year are murdered by the cartels. The cartel are brutal; one American family ran afoul of them. The cartel soldiers ambushed nine family members and killed them all. Two women, five children, and two infants, returning from a shopping trip. No men.

As I said, I find it awful that these reports are not for general viewing and I wouldn’t mind getting together a group viewing. If you are interested, email me at learnourselves21@gmail.com.

The truth is there and it is available.
