Caverns Friday Summer Speakers Series: 'Karst is Where the Heart is'

Lewis & Clark Caverns State Park will host a free talk entitled “Karst is Where the Heart is” on Friday, June 11, at 8 p.m. in the park’s campground amphitheater.

Karst landscapes, from their towering mountains depicted in traditional Chinese paintings to their caves winding far beneath the Earth’s surface, have beckoned to humans since the beginning of recorded history. Take a journey through time to see how humankind has interacted with karst geology, an integral piece of our past, present and future.

This is the third presentation in Lewis & Clark Caverns State Park’s annual Friday Summer Speakers Series, which introduces a new speaker each Friday at 8 p.m. throughout the summer.

About the speaker: Cort Walsh was born and raised in Butte and is attending Montana Tech, studying geological engineering. She grew up visiting Lewis & Clark Caverns and is currently a tour guide there.

Lewis & Clark Caverns State Park is about 15 miles southeast of Whitehall, along Montana Highway 2. For more information about the park, please visit stateparks.mt.gov/lewis-and-clark-caverns or call 406-287-3541.
