Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana

Between the Stacks: 7/7/2021

Summer is tough time for young mothers to get a little time off and good babysitters are always in demand. If you have a young person interested in getting into the babysitting business, the Extension Office will be teaching a four week Babysitting clinic on Tuesday afternoon, starting July 6th through July 27th at 1:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome, but registration is required in order for there to be enough handouts and supplies for everyone. The clinic is free but the presenters need to know who is coming.

The Summer Reading program for July 14th will be our special friend Deanna Mydland from PBS doing her interactive version of our theme “Tales and Tails”. The program begins at 10:30 a.m. so come prepared to learn all types of fun things!

I seemed to be seeing double this month on the calendar. Mystery Book Club will meet on its normal third Tuesdays of the month, July 20th at 5:00 p.m. It is listed on the 13th but we will only meet at our normal time. History Book Club will meet on July 26th at 6:30 p.m.

On July 8th, we will have a busy afternoon with our favorite cooking contest, Sweet Tea Tales at 3:00 p.m. The theme this month is “Picnics & Pioneers”. Emily Dickerson will be back to do a special program after the food testing. For more details, contact the Library at 287-3763 for the theme!

Mark your calendars for a special Conversations on Water program on Wednesday, July14th at 6:30 p.m. The Conversations series is a wonderful set of programs on current topics sponsored by Humanities Montana. The program will include a set of three short videos on water issues then a guided conversation among the audience on the issues discussed in the video. Wednesday evenings have turned out to be a great time for adult programs, so watch for more!

The Friends of the Library will be meeting on July 15th at 5:15 p.m. They are always open to new recruits, so if you would like to find out what the Friends are all about feel free to come join the fun. Not only do the Friends make decisions about different projects but also work closely with the staff as volunteers. The new look outside the front of the building is due to their determination to give the Library a great new front yard and seating area.

If you have any questions about Library programs, services, or just need a little technology or reference help, please give us a call at 287-3763 or stop by the front desk during regular hours.
